Experiments with Stop-motion

Early this year I experimented with stop-motion! I made 5 shorts in total. I had a lot of fun trying this new medium out.

Here's a brief description of how I made my favorite one.

For this stop-motion, I wanted to branch out from my typical design and make a slightly more anatomically correct snail. I envisioned him being wise and calm. I used polymer clay. For the snail body, I made a brownish-tan by mixing white and brown clay. For the shell, I formed three canes of tan, white, and brown, and twisted them together before forming the shell. For the eyes, I combined a brown clay with black chalk pastel (yes, it was messy). I didn't have a plot in mind--I simply went out in my backyard with my fiance and we began filming. We experimented with angles, and decided it'd be interesting to see the snail slowly come into the foreground. It was fun and spontaneous, just how art should be :D.
